OK,

I have just switched across from ISDN to Satellite DSL. With this has come the inclusion of a firewall router etc. The problem I am having is that when I try to send out mail with attachments, the mail sits in the queue for hours. After each retry to send, it reports in queue details:

host unreachable

This carries on for a few hours, and then, usually late at night, the email delivers.

However, if I send a message to the exact same address without an attachment, it delivers instantly.

This goes for nearly all of my messages, as far as I can see. All messages with attachments get held in the queue for hours, and ones without go instantly.

This is causing huge problems, as we are sending all sorts of important files, and they are not arriving until hours later.

The SMTP protocol log, indicates that the connection has been made, and all is OK, but then seems to miss out the delivering bit.

Please help!!

Thanks in advance

Andy

Sounds like a fragmented packet problem. Make sure your router / firewall accepts fragmented packets. I wish I could give you more details, but this setting can be in a diffrent place in every firewall / router.
