Hi
hope someone can help
Windows 2K Exchange 2K
Got a problem with outgoing mail messages. Internal mail works ok, but whenever a mail message is sent externally we get a NRD, stating you do not have permission to send to this recipient smtp550 5.7.1. Unable to relay for jbloggs@hotmail.com.
Ive checked server permissions that i know, but im at a loss as to why this is happening. From the past, outgoing mail has worked straight out of the box..ie an all default installation.
Any help would be most appreciated
Thanks

Thanks for that.
Thats handy to have but still i have the problem.
We have a 2000 domain that our students use and this works fine. What i am doing at the moment is building a replacement for this domain yet keeping the server names the same. I thought that i would be able to send mail out of the new domain, but not get mail back in as the mx record still points to the old mail server.
I have gone back and looked at an earlier stage of this build (ghost cd images) and i get dns errors on the uncofigured exchange server, which is what id expect ie no config of the smtp virtual server.
all we then did on top of this first build was to configure the virtual server, add another virtual server to allow for a mail dosclaimer to be added, and then any set of to use outlook web access.
No permissions or security was changed, so im just wondering if it is because there is a server out there that is causing me problems. I am just trying to check the mail flow before we take the old system down to replace with th new.
Hope this makes sense to you
thanks
