i have BE 9.1 on a DC with Exchange (SBS). I'm having a problem with the exhange logon account (trying to back up Exchange). I created a backupexec user and delegated it as an Exchange Admin, gave it local logon rights to the DC. Though the mailbox account doesn't show up in ESM. I've tried my own user account as well as the administrator, to no avail.
any thoughts?

also, the email notification doesn't seem to work either.

also i noticed the backupexec user account i created doesn't show a mailbox in Exchange System Manager. So I deleted the user and created one again- same thing. Doesn't show up.

Okay, so what user account is set for each of the Backup Exec Services to use?

Matt J.

Please always take the time to backup any and all data before performing any actions suggested for ANY problem, regardless of how minor a change it might seem. Also test the backup to make sure it is intact.

i am using the local admin account. i switched the services for BE to use the backupexec user account, but then it gave me an error "a required privelege is not held by client".

I got the email notification to work. still can't get an account with proper credentials to allow exchange backup. I've given the backupexec user all the rights under the sun, to no avail.

So are you not able to backup any of exchange, or only a single mailbox, sorry, but I want to be clear?

Do you have the exchange agent installed?

Mattjurado-
yes, i have the Exchange Agent installed. When I try to select "Microsoft Exchange Mailboxes" or "Exchange Public Folders" I get the credentials problem. I can select "Information Store" however.
thanks

it's the error in the 273168 link. i already made sure the backupexec user is not hidden from the GAL.

i removed the backupexec user from Backup Operators (found that on the Veritas forum) and put in that user in the services applet for all BE services, then made that user the default logon from with BE. That did the trick.
thanks for all the tips.
