Exchange grabbing local email

Our Exchange server is grabbing emails sent from the local network to somebody else on the local network. However, we don't want that to happen because then our out-of-office users can't see those emails until they are back on the network. The email should go past Exchange to our webhost's servers. How can this be fixed?
