Exchange Bricks Level problems

Running Arcserve 2000 SP4 (build 1100) with the Exchange agent on a remote server. I can't get the bricks level restore to work. I get errors like "E8603 failed to write to database" and "E8617 Failed to end restore"

What could cause this?

The error code at the end of the message is more important. Also the agent log usually provides the more information. Many times it in necessary to put the agent in deubg to really find out what is going on.
