My company is going through a name change and therefore also an email address change as well. Does anyone know if Exchange 5.5 sp4 has the ability to send an auto-response informing the sender that the email address has changed for that particular individual. A total of 300 mailboxes will require a customized response of: person.name@acme.com I would like to control this on the server side and not rely on the users to setup an out of office rule/template.

If it requires additional software to run on the exchange server, can anyone recommend one?

Thanks in advance

Don't think you can do it for individual mailboxes from the server. Is it just the domain name that is changing? If so, why not add a disclaimer (or amend the current one) to all outbound internet mail to illustrate the change, with an example.

No actually, it is the format of the address and the domain name. It used to be initial.lastname@acme.com, now firstname.lastname@newacme.com.

I have seen other organizations provide a method to respond without user intervention, but it escapes me how.

I have tried to do a directory export to a csv file. This has provided the attribute titled AutoReply-message field, however, no matter what you type in that field or other relevant fields it will not activate the response. I found this information on MSDN regarding the coding of this field.
The prepended header is a good idea, but with naming convention and company name changes it may become confusing to the reader.

Any thoughts at all are welcome.

Thanks,
Coffee

The company i work for is going through a name change and therefore also an email address change. Does anyone know if Exchange 5.5 sp4 has the ability to send an auto-response on every message sent to name@oldname.xx informing the sender that the email address will be changed to name@newname.xx. I would like to control this on the server side and not rely on the users to setup an out of office rule/template.

If it requires additional software to run on the exchange server, can anyone recommend one?

Thanks in advance

Our company is also going through a name change and I am also looking for a way to send an auto-reply message when emails are sent to the old address, controlled on the server-side. Any suggestions would be helpful.
