Hi, I have Exchange 2000 Server 5.5, and I just install the service pack 3. After the installation my Exchange Server wont work any more, the problem is that the Attendant Service is not starting, and as a consequence of that my Information Store as well . I have gone into any possible solution that I found on the net , but nothing has work so far.

So far this is the check list I've followed and make sure evrything is correct:

* My Server is a Domain Controller, and it is in the doman controller group.
* I've checked the Manage Auditing and Security Log and it's correct
* I've extended the timeout secs of the Global Catalog/Topology lookout
* I've checked that the Administrator and SYSTEM has full control of the Exchsrvr, MDBDATA, ....
* /domainprep

The Error that its giving me is 0x80040a01, Event IDs 1005, 7001, 1004, at the Attendant Service

Anythig else Im missing ?

Thanks in advanced!

Have you changed the administrator password recently?

Try setting all Exchange services to local system and see if that fixes the problem. Check DNS is setup and working correctly.

Actually all services are LocalSystem, the weirdest thing is that I just added a new user, for testing purposes just to see if it propagated, to my Active Directory and it replicated correctly to the other Active Directories of our servers in our WAN.

You mean to check the DNS config at my network adapter ?

Users come from the GC not Exchange.
DNS Server settings, not DNS client.

mmhh everything is setup OK ... Im one step away from re-installing Exchange :(

Set all Exchange services to manual. Install Exchange again over the top. Restart. Then install SP3 again. Ensure it finishes correctly this time. Restart.

Manually start SA. If that works job done and set services to automatic. If not post back error messages from event log.
