Exchange and outgoing attachments

We have Exchange (not 2K) installed and running and it has been for quite a while. Frequently when we attach a document (no matter how small or large) to a message, the attachment gets dropped. The message goes through fine, but no attachment or notice that an attachment was once there. Any ideas or anyone seen this before?

See if this fixes the problem. Go into the properties of the recipient in the personal address book. Uncheck the box that says "Always send to this recipient in Microsoft Outlook Rich Text Format" and try sending the attachment again.
