Firstly, I am new to forums. So I will appoligise in advance if the question is an insult to your knowledge or if I am asking a darn right stupid question.

Anyway...

All I want to do is you Exchange 5.5 to basically act as a Mail Client. I want Exchange to dial up and Send & Receive basically. Then if I am not mistaken, when the mail is received the mail can be filtered.

I thought I had cracked mail sending, the mail leaves the queing system with no errors but doesnt go anywhere.

Thanks guys.

James.

If you are only looking for a mail client, I would suggest using Outlook (full outlook not express). Under tools--> Services you can add a Internet Mail account (POP). This can sync'ed.

To recieve email through an exchange server the server has to have a static IP or how ever you want to associate your @whatever.com address. This can't be done through a dialup ISP b/c normally your dialup IP address changes each time you dial in.

I'd have to look at my Ex server, I'm not sure if you can send out w/o a static IP.
