Howdy All,

The organization I work for has changed their company name and we've added a new domain name -- we're using SBS 2003 and pop mail into exchange. I have separate pop boxes for both domains and we successfully receive e-mail into both of them; I've updated the recipient policy to set the new domain name to be the primary and updated all the various addresses and such; mail is flowing fine both ways (small problem but thats another post and minor).

Well, we tag all outgoing e-mail with a footer using the evaluation version of GFI mail essentials. Well, I've updated the footers of the otugoing mail but they still show for the old domain but we are sending mail out on the new domain name. I've not changed anything in DNS, I do not particularly want to rename my active directory domain name. In the GFI Mail Essentials drop down list there are 4 options:
44-randomGibberish
OEMRandomGibberish
myOriginalDomain.com
myOriginalDomain.local

I went into my DNS manager and tried to add myNewDomain.com but it didn't show up in GFI.

Can somebody point me in the right direction on where I need to go to set this up properly.

Mark

It might be because you are using an evaluation version of GFI mail essentials. When you talk of the Recipient policy and adding an SMTP name to it, and then applying it to each user, you can set it as primary for users to send email with the correct reply-to email address to get return emails. You can also do this manually per user under User Properties> Email Addresses.

It's probably how GFI queries for the name, and limits your options if you don't purchase it. Perhaps.

And if you renamed something in DNS, you may be causing AD problems. SBS 2003 domains can't be renamed without reloading SBS. Install the SUPPORT>TOOLS from SBS CD2. Then run netdiag /fix and dcdiag /fix to ensure AD is set up. Always keep a system state backup handy (even if only to file).

Hope this is not way off course for a helpful reply

Hi Jahlmer,

The evaluation problem did occur to me; I would really like to stop using the evaluation and actually purchase the system however the people who hold the cash are fighting me on renewing our antivirus subscriptions.....I'd like to register GFI just for the support.

As for the recipient policies, I have set them for each user and changed the primary one in the recipient policy. I did find a work around in GFI. Rather then put in a domain rule, I put in a user rule and told it to append to all messages sent by Domain Users and that seems to be working.

I didn't rename anything in DNS, I just attempted to add an entry, I will however try the netdiag and dcdiag comands you suggest.

Thanks for your ideas!
Mark L.
