Hi,

We purchased a SMS server recently, the company put the SMS server on a Windows 03 server on our domain and said it should work for sending SMS messages via Outlook, the format you send the email in is

mobile_number@IP_of_SMS_server

We I go to send a test SMS message it goes via Exch 2003 to the Internet and I get a NDR back.
To try and send SMS messages via the SMS server I setup a new SMTP conector pointing to the IP of the SMS server, gave this connect a lower costing then the Internet SMTP connect, restarting services but this did not help.

I can telnet to the SMS box on port 25

Does anyone have any ideas ? I know its a strange one

Not, its a SMS software app that was created by a programming company.

Sounds like there should be a client on Outlook. Suggest you contact the company that make the app.

For one awful minute I thought they'd put in MS SMS...

I did contact them and no client is needed and they cant offer any support to my issue.

Money well spent!

Since you didn't tell us what the NDR actually says, we can't help you.

Plan for performance, and capacity takes care of itself. Plan for capacity, and suffer poor performance.

Tell me about it ......

NDR is

Action: failed
Status: 5.0.0 (unable to deliver this message after 3 days)

Has it ever worked? Any errors in Exchange event log?

To be honest, if that company won't support their own product when it goes wrong, I think I'd be reasonably unhappy about that.
