Just the latest snag with our 8.6 to 9.1 conversion. . .

We having a bit of difficulty backing up the individual mailboxes on one of our two exchange servers. they are both entirely identical, except one server has only 10 mailboxes, while the other has 1500+

our single backup server can backup both information and directory stores fine with no problems. with the mailboxes, the one server (10) backs-up fine, but the other (1500+) returns an 'access denied'. when i try and select the mailboxes in the 'backup selection' area, it asks for a username and password, but nothing i enter seems to work.

both servers have all the exchange and backup services starting using the same network account. we also use this network account to log onto the backup server.

as there some place i can enter an account and password that i'm missing?

thanks in advance!

you have to use the same logon as what exchange is used under services so if exchange uses adminstrator then you must supply the admin password.

The easiest way is to do this is go to selections in backupexec and then go to a mailbox and then click on it and it will ask for a password. Supply the password and then backup should work

Hope this helps

Ah, you know, i found the problem. The title of the article was exactly what i needed, i don't know how i missed it before!

basically, i was using "account.name" for the user name, where it was looking for "name of a mailbox"

i thought they had depreciated that with 9.1, but i guess not!

thanks for the help!
