Hello,

we have 2 exchange 5.5 servers. The first is only MTA and the second have the mailboxes. The problem is, that the mails to extern don't work any more. If I send a mail to a external address, the message go to the MTA Exchange to the folder imcdata\out and not to the extern account. I get no error message.

What can I check?

For info: mail from extern works

Maybe the oldest message is bad, and it's stuck at the head of the queue. Stop the IMS, delete the oldest file in IMCDATA\OUT, and retstart the IMS again - that might clear it.

Thanks, the exchangeserver works now. How log stay the mails in the folder imcdata\out (when times it out). Where can I configure it?

Messages that can be delivered stay in the IMCDATA\OUT directory for a few seconds at most before being removed after delivery. Messages that are corrupt may never leave the directory if the IMS cannot process them. Messages that cannot be delivered for other reasons (such as temporary failure of destination domain) time out after the configured timeout period for their priority. This is set on the IMS, Connections tab, in the Service Message Queues section.

I don't find a configuration point Service Message Queues. I have set in Configuration->Connections->Internet Mail Service->Advanced-> Maximun transfer times(min). This times I have configured to 180/240/300. But it locks that it don't work. I have mails in the imcdata\out folder from after the last manual deleting (3 days ago)

And I have configured configuration->MTA Site Configuration->Messaging Defaults->Connection retry values-> 30/20/600/120
But this had also no effect to the imcdata\out folder

The mails are only Replys from spam-mails they send to a non exist user.

What can I do to stop this.

To stop NDRs that spammers send to you, you need a 3rd party product - the IMS in 5.5 cannot be configured to not NDR a message to a nonexistant address. You need some sort of SMTP server between your IMS and the Internet to filter the NDRs, or even better to filter the incoming messages that otherwise might NDR (because they're being sent to addresses that don't match any mailboxes in your GAL) and silently drop the message on the way in. XWall and MailSweeper are two such products, SendMail can also be configured to do this if you know linux.
