Exchange 5.5 Cannot send messages

Hey all,

I have a serious problem that I know someone has seen before. I have an Exchange 5.5 server that will rec messages in but will not process messages outbound of our organization. On further investigation I discovered tens of thousands of messages in my Internet Mail Service Outbound que.... The more I delete the more appear. I tried a program that comes with the exchange server CD to delete messages in the MTS-OUT que, but because there are so many messages it just freezes up. At this point we can rec messages but cannot send. I even tried deleting the Internet Mail Service, a message said it would delete all messages in the ques, but when I reinstall I get the same problem..... HELP PLEASE

We had a similar incident--the internal mail would send/recieve just fine, but all outgoing/incoming was held at the exchange server. Turned out to be anti-virus software. Don't ask why--it is embarrassing--but the AV software did an auto update and just started causing trouble.

Stop the AV software, see if it begins to deliver the mail.
