A few years ago we migrated from Exchange 5.5 to exchange 2003. I now have a need to restore a mailbox using a backup that has exchange 5.5 bricks. I no longer have a 5.5 server around and hate to rebuild one.

I am using arcview 9, build 2020. I believe when we upgraded I had to upgrade the arcserve exchange agent for 2003.

Has anyone ever tried this and does it work? I searched CA's knowledge base and can't find a hit. thank you

Hi Betty,

When restoring from Exchange Server 5.5 to Exchange Server 2000 or 2003,you cannot select the Individual Mailboxes parent object as a source because of the ambiguity of the child mailbox locations.

It is possible to migrate Exchange 5.5 mailboxes but only
using the Exchange Premium Add-on Agent. Therefore the Exchamnge 5.5 and Exchange 2003 must have Exchange Agent and Exchange Premium Add-on installed.
The Exchange 5.5 must be backed up using the Premium Add-on Agent. But here in this case it would be Brick level..and moreover you are using version 9.0 which does not come with premium addon which is available with version 11.0 and above
