First let me say how much I appreciate your information and experience...This site has been extremely helpful...

I have inherited the Exchange position with our company and was wondering about the backup procedure for this...We do have a tape drive but it is on another server other than our Exchange server...

It appears that the previous admin was using the ntbackup.exe in a .bat script to perform a backup of the Exchange info...It is as follows:

C:\WINNT\system32\NTBACKUP.EXE backup /f "Location to place the backup" /ds "ServerName" /is "ServerName" /v:no /r:no /m normal /j "ServerName Backup.job" /l:f

It appears to work, but I wanted to make sure we were getting all the information we needed...I don't believe the .bkf it creates has ever been tested...Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Thanks in advance!

Find and read the Exchange 5.5 Disaster Recovery Whitepaper on the Microsoft website. If you are responsible for backing up and restoring Exchange in the event of a DR, you need to know the information in this paper.

Afterwards, you'll know enough to test your backup.
