I am running Exchange 5.0 on NT4.0 SP5.

I would like to do away with our dialup Modem and use our DSL connection to send and recieve mail.
Could someone please give me an Idea of how to go about this.
I have pinholed Port 25 on our Router and have asked our DNS host to change our MX records and all is fine.

How do I set this up on the Exchange Server??

Please HELP!!!!
Many thanks

Sten

set the default route (IP) to the ipaddress of the ADSL router then on the router set a proxy to take any activity on port 25 and submit it to port 25 on the exchange box
What sort of adsl router do you have)

Thanks for your reply domino,

I have an Nokia M1122 and it works great.

I have changed the defaul gateway to the correct Router and all that works fine

My Question is what do I need to configure on the Exchange Admin .because I do not want messages to que and then use the dialup modem to send them on. Do I just turn of "use dialer"? Or do I have to configure something so that exchange knows to send via the route to the adsl router

I hope you know what I mean!!

Thanks

Sten

Like domino said, set the default route (IP) to the ipaddress of the ADSL router, that's the way to the internet and that's the way it will follow.
Since the ADSL is live all the time, you can set you internet connection to never dial, use existing connection as well. If the answer is here, mark it, others can benefit from it too.
