I've never run into this before. Have a client that runs Windows Server 2008 with Exchange 2010 on it. They also have their vmpro on this machine which does stop periodically for no foreseable reason. Restarting the service fixes the issue. They now want to add One-x into the mix. Has anyone loaded One-x onto a server that is also running Exchange? Is there going to be conflicts with doing so? Any insight is appreciated.

Installing VM Pro on a server with Exchange is wrong to begin with.

Install both applications on a clean server/VM or use Application Server.

That's what I was thinking. I can't imagine it working well. We came in after the fact for support and didn't realize the server they were using for vmpro was also running their exchange.

The issue is the server uses ports that VM Pro uses, that's why it appears to randomly stop (at least this is usually the case), this will only get worse the more stuff you load on.

It is considered bst practice to always install the Avaya Apllications on their own dedicated server(s) (Avaya detail which one can co exist)

Once you are commited to a dedicated server it makes sence to use appliction server & avoid the unnecessary expence of another windows server licence.

As a bonus Application server installs all applictions at once, in a far simpler process & works 100% with no danger of missing dependencies.
Also as it is an Avaya supplied Operating system support is available should it be needed.

based on the above installing VM Pro on a windows server unless absolutly necessary* is not the best aproach
Aplication server can be virtualised if need.

*DB integration is not currently supported on application server but it should be comming soon

Do things on the cheap & it will cost you dear

Just looking at some of the docs on vmpro it states it uses the same ports as DNS and they are also using this server for DNS. Walked into a horrible set-up here. Uugh! Thanks for the responses!

I've never done the MAPI connection to exchange using an app server. Not sure how well it works. It's documented as working, although that doesn't necessarily mean anything, LOL.
