Exchange 2003 clustered environment individual mailbox nightmare

Good morning. This past weekend, we have migrated to Exchange 2003 clustered environment. I can backup the information store and public mailboxes on the virtual server, however, when I try to back up the individual mailboxes, it just hangs and hangs and hangs. I ran a test run on just 10 mailboxes and it completed successfully, however, when I try to back them up, 10 mailboxes alone was churning after 10 hours. What the heck could be the problem! thanks
