Exchange 2003 and DNS

Greetings all;

I have an issue that needs to be resolves for a client.

SITUATION

They have a dynamice IP address.
They are trying out Server 2003 and exchange 2003.
Server 2003 runs great.
Exchange 2003 internally runs great.
Exchange 2003 externally stops.

My question is simple. Since they are using a Dynamic IP I have set them up with a dyndns.org account.

Now with that set up How do I set up DNS to use the dyndns.org DNS so that it can send and receive external
e-mail.

P.S. It is so much easier with a static IP.

They need a static IP address for any DSN to resolve properly, for sure!

The start of authority must have an mx-record for their domain - resolving to the new static IP address ... Start Of Authority can be the ISP or the firewall...

It can also depend how they have their Firewall set up .. if the server is internal - then the ip address for the mx-record must be an external IP address. Then a transform from the outside addy to an internal addy must be done.

The address of the exchange server should/will be a static internall address.

If you are just gonna put the server outside - then the static address on the server will be one of their external ip's -- but this will just open the server up to attacks... Alshrim
