I am using Exch 2000 (installed as part of SBS 2000). I have set up a VPN to a remote site using an IPSEC tunnel, so therefore IP routing.
I can ping server by name & by FQDN. However when I try and connect to the Exch server via the Oulook client it just stops responding or I get a message saying "Retrieving data from Exchange server" and nothing happens.
However if I try the same thing using XP PPTP client which means I get issued a local IP address of 10.x.x.x (as opposed to my IPSEC addres of 192.168.0.x) it works.
It appears as if Exch is confused about IP routing but don't know why as all other network functions (ie browsing) work OK.

Any ideas or help I would be very grateful as this is driving me mad.

Why not use OWA?

When I set this up for VPN, I did the original config with the PC on the LAN. After that, it all worked fine.
