After working over night to rebuild this server… I though I was getting the day off to sleep… Well just as I crawl into bed and shut my eyes the Cell Phone starts to ring… I am being called in because the Tech that went onsite to finish my job could not sort out how to get the data back in place…. Well after sitting down for a while and playing with this I finally sorted it out… What a relief these users were without e-mail all day (You know how they get with no Mail!)

This is what I did…

Dismount the Mailbox store and the Public Folder store….
Copy the c:\Program Files\Exchsrvr\MDBDATA folder over from the old drive onto the new one.

Under the properties of each store on the database tab check off this database can be overwritten by a restore.

Now remount the stores…. You may have to reboot here you may not. (Look to see if the mailboxes are now showing up in System Manager.)

Go into Active Directory and delete any exchange mailboxes (If you did not uncheck the option to create the mailbox when you created the new users.) To do this, right click on the user account à Exchange Tasks  Delete mailbox.

Now browse to the Mailbox Store in System Manager under “mailboxes”…You should now see all your old mailboxes. Right click on “mailboxes” and Run Cleanup Agent. This will mark the mailboxes that are not linked up to users with a red “X” Now right click on each individual mailbox and choose reconnect. This will bring up your Active Directory User Accounts. Link each mailbox to the appropriate user and away you go! Side note you will have to re-enter their passwords for any pop accounts that they may have setup.

Hope this helps… If you did not sort it out already!
