I am a little new to Exchange 2000, so bear with me if I sound dumb. Here is the problem I am having. Periodically through out the day it seems like the Exchange server is hanging up, causing people who are using Outlook 2000 or Outlook 98 to lock up when they go to check there email, and when some of the users (not all) lock up they end up having to reboot. Also sometimes when it hangs up they are prompted for there password and when they enter it in, it comes up invalid. Sometimes this happens maybe once a day or maybe 5 times a day. The people on the outside who are connecting via pop3 are not having any problems at all. We have all the latest Service Packs and updates. I would greatly appreciate any help I can get.

Is your exchange server running sp2. I think there was a problem where one of the processes would eventually consume all the memory or all the cpu time and cause your problem. I think sp2 corrected that.

Do you have to do anything to the Exchange Server? Dan

No I don't have to do anything to it at all, like if you mean reboot it. It will just hang up from anywhere to a minute to 5 mniutes.

Check Active Directory logs in Event Viewer and see if there are any errors in there. Dan
