Exchange 2000 on Win2003?

I am just about to do a test install of Exchange 2000 on a Windows 2003 server. Can anyone with experience of this give me a few pointers?

I've heard that there is some messing around with active directory but my installation guide doesn't mention an pitfalls, are there any?

If i decide to go down the road of Win2k server and Exchange 2000 is it possible for that to coexist with 2003 AD and if now is it poss to install exchange into its own domain and create a trust.

So i don't have to mess with my AD for now?

Also is it poss to have a standalome Exchange sever to just use for POP3 and IMAP mail or does it have to be part of the AD?

Exchange 2003 works with Windows 2000 SP3 or later. Exchange 2000 will not work with Windows 2003.
