Recently upgraded to Exchange 2000 from 5.5, with exchnage 5.5 I put in the IP provided by the ISP and the external mail would be forwarded.

Where in Exchange 2000 do you do this -- please HELP

In the Virtual SMTP Connector

If 'something' 'somewhere' gives 'some' error, expect random guesses or no replies at all. Please specify details.

Thanks Marc,

Sorry,
but can you be a little more specific.

Sorry, the SMTP was wrong, i was too fast on that post.
In your Routing groups, you need to check the connectors, open the properties of your connector, or create one, and in General you can define the IP or name of your ISP's Smart host. That is one option which save you from dealing with domain checks on your end.

Make sure you put the IP address in square brackets:

[192.168.1.5] or whatever.
