Hello,

We have an Exchange 5.5 Org in which we're in the middle of migrating to Exchange 2003. This is what has been accomplished thus far: This will be an upgrade in which new physical servers are deployed to the branch offices and 5.5 mailboxes will be moved off the old 5.5 server onto the new Exchange 2003 server which will be joined to the existing ORG. We will also be building a 2 node cluster in our hub site. So far, we've completed:

Forestprep
Domainprep
Ran ADC Tools and did the resource mailbox wizard + verified.
Set up CA agreements and synchronized directories from all 6 sites to AD
Installed First Exchange 2003 Server into 5.5 Org

The issue I'm writing about is that we recently acquired another company which as about 300 users. They have their own Exchange 2000 ORG but we've already done the following:

Created user accounts in our AD domain. They are logging into this domain but when they launch Outlook, they are putting in their old domain credentials to access their mailbox. We will be placing a new server in their office with Exch2k3 and joining our ORG. I need to know if it is worth it to invest in a 3rd party inter-org migration utility (Quest, NetIQ, Bindview) or simply use the new Interorg native MS utilities? Can someone reply to me with the pro's/con's ?

Also, what would the exact steps be to get their mailboxes, public folders, free/busy, etc...information into our AD & Exchange ORG?

Rumor has it that we will be acquiring 3-6 other small (less than 100) companies in the future.

Any feedback on personal experience would be appreciated.

Regards
