I have run forestprep, and domainprep and gone through the setup of exchange 2000. When I get to the Exchange Messaging and Collaboration part of the install I get an error with id number 0x80005000. This happens at the end of that part, you can cancel it and it will finish the install, but won't work correctly. I have been all over Microsoft's website but have yet to find anything helpful. The only thing that we've found from Micrsoft that has helped in any way is article 291438. But it still will not run all the way successfully. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Hi,

Did this also include the message "invalid ADSI name/path passed"?

If so, you may have a network issue that is preventing communications with A.D. or you may have a A.D. problem.

Run "netdiag" and "dcdiag" to verify network conditions. These are found on the Windows 2000 server disk if I remember correctly. I copied them to a temp directory on the root. double click on Netdiag and it will create a report in the same directory. dcdiag is run from the command window and will generate an on screen report. This should indicate any problems it found and help you pinpoint a problem area.

Hope this helps,

Wyz

0x80005000 corresponds to ( remove the 0x=hex , then remove the 8000 = i dont know why ) the 5000 if put into calc science and click hex, gives you 1388) so you have error code 1388, search technet for that and get one entry about exchange:
hope that explenation was clear .
