I am migrating my email from exch 5.5 to exch 2000 (sp3 on a w2k sp4 machine). I have finsihed most of the chores included in the migration except for the smtp configuration (needed prior to stopping Internet mail services on exch 5.5). I have been reviewing the documentation for smtp in ex2 and am now very confused. Here are my questions:
What is the differentce between settng up a smtp connector or a routing group?
The walk thru for installing a smtp connector says to open exchange sm, expand admin groups, the current group and then the Rotuing Group container - I have no routing group container.
What is the "local bridgehead"?
At this point the ex2 server is working well. All users and public folders have be transfered. Mail is moving in and out without problems. When I stop the IMS on the Exch 5.5 server mail stops being deleivered outside the organization.
Thanks in advance for any help
Judy
