Excell files not opening quickly enough,

I have to wait for quite some time everytime I attempt to open an excell file on my Windows 95 PC. I have 192 Mb Ram , the processor is a 550 MHz and there is 8 Gb free space on the C Drive. The files are very small and stored locally but they still do not open as quickly on my PC as they do on other similar spec PC's near me. All the other MS Office97 applications respond immediately , any ideas please folks ?

Is Excel saved in multiple formats? That is, Excel 97 and 95? Is journalling on in Outlook? (Even if you are not using outlook, you need to check this if Outlook is installed)
