We have weird problems that occur with Excel 2003 since a couple of weeks now. All of our files are located on a Windows 2000 Server and the workstations are Windows XP SP2 with Office 2003 Pro SP1. We're using roaming profils that, as the files, resides on the same server).
The first problem is that when I want to print an Excel file by clicking File..., Print... and use the dropdown menu to choose a network printer, the program stop responding for a while before I'm able to print. And that happen only with one single network printer (Canon3300) because it's much faster with the other network printers that we have. And the bigger the file is, the more I have to wait... And while I was waiting the printer (Canon) to be chosen, I looked in Task Manager to find that Spoolsv.exe AND Csrss.exe are using 100% CPU. This problem occurs only with Excel. When I'm trying the same thing with Word, changing printers is fast and I don't have to wait for more than 2 sec (even with the Canon). I tried to reinstall the printer but to no avail. Maybe I should reinstall the driver on the Print Server?
Second problem is that Excel is doing the same thing as above (It hangs) but when I want to save a .xls file. It looks to be worst when files have "links" between them. (a majority of those files were created using Office 97 and was then opened and save in Office 2003).
Oh and by the way, this problem occurs on ALL(a lot) Windows XP workstations that we have.
I tried to leave posts on the Newsgroups of Microsoft but it seems that nobody have answers to my troubling questions..
Thank you!
