Hi,
I am trying to add a macro to my spreadsheet.
When I do record the new macro and then close the .xls and then reopen it, I get the following error:

System error - the parameter is incorrect.

Has anyone seen that error before?
I did not even think I was using a parameter!?

Thanks.

Could you provide a little more info please. Does the error occur when you open the workbook or just when you run the macro. Could you post the code of the macro.

This my first attempt ever to write a macro in Excel.

The error occurs when I open the workbook.
When I stored the macro to my Personal Macro Workbook, all worked fine, no error.

Just to experiment I created an "empty" macro and got the same Microsoft Visual Basic system error. The only macro in the open workbook is this empty one:

Sub Macro1()
'
' Macro1 Macro
' Macro recorded 4/23/2002 by bas
'

'
End Sub

I hope this helps to make my question more understandable.
Thanks.

Search your XLStart folder for any files, and if you find any move them to an alternate folder, and have XLStart empty. Restart excel and see if the problem persists.

Then re-introduce the files until you find the one causing the problem.

A.C.,

I did just what you suggested and it did not help.
But, it got me thinking in a new direction.

What I ended up doing was... I opened a brand new workbook,
copyed the worksheet with all my data in it to the new workbook, then I could record the macros and reopen the new workbook with no error.

Why? I do not really know. But, i do know that the original workbook was created in an earlier version of Excel - I'm running Excel 2000.

Thanks for all your help.
