excel spreadsheet question

Have a collumn of numbers, with cells formated as text.

Is there a way to edit many cells at once ? I want to add 00 in front of the value in many cells. I've tried using the replace command to no avail.


Example:

1000
1050
1191
1222
1234
1590
1999

change to 001000, 001050, 001191, etc.

It sounds like you want everything to be forced to 6 figures. If that's what you want to do:
[ul][li]Highlight the entire column[/li]
[li]right click anywhere in the column[/li]
[li]select Format cells[/li]
[li]he right box, select Custom (at the bottom)[/li]
[li]he field at the top right, type in 000000[/li]
[li]k OK[/li][/ul]
Now all cells in the column will be forced to 6 digits, adding leading zeros if needed.

- select the cells to change
- right click ---> format cells
- choose custom and create format as follows : 00####
( with as many # as the longest number)
And you are in business
