Hi everyone ...
I know I should(and probably do) know this, but ...
I am simply trying to get the percentage of one number based on another number ...
Example ...
A1 = 6,000,000 (six million)
A2 = 189,000
A3 = percentage of 189k of 6 mill.

I keep coming up with 3175% !
And I simply KNOW that is not right !
can anyone provide the formula?

Call ProgrammerHangHeadInShame() [shadessad]

Michael

=SUM(A2/A1)100 for a simple general cell

or =SUM(A2/A1) and format cell as a percentage cell

Kim Leece.

Thanks Kim ..
I think my client would rather hear a 3100% savings over the correct answer of 3% though :-)

You don't need the SUM bit in these formulas. =A2/A1 will suffice, or =A2/A1-1 if you just want the delta percentage.

Regards
Ken.............
