Got this really weird thing happening in Excel 2003. I have some text in a cell and I want it to wrap within the cell. I select the "Wrap Text" check box in the cell format options and the text in the cell disappears!! I have tried using Alt+Enter to split the text but it doesn't help.

If I click in the cell I can see the text at the top just to the right of the "fx" symbol but it just doesn't appear in the cell.

If I remove the "Wrap Text" option the text returns in the cell.

I've tried different fonts and formatting, text colours but nothing seems to work. I've not seen this problem before and I'm stunmped!

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

No alignment settings or leading zeros. Problem happens on any spreadsheet not just a specific one. Also happens on spreadsheets this user did not create.

Thanks for the suggestion!

I'd suggest copying the text to Notepad, so that you lose any special characters it may have. Microsoft love making covert changes to your input without giving you the option to choose if you want them. Often you have no way of stopping this happening, or even discovering if it is happening.

The trick of splitting text using Alt-Enter is new to me: I gave you a star for it. Maybe post it as a (lightbulb) thread.
