Hi All,

I have a user on Office 2003. Just recently he was in excel and when he clicks a single cell and moves the mouse it highlights all vertical and horizontal cells as if he is holding the left mouse button down.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Kind Regards

Kelley Lewis

He has EXT mode switched on. Press F8 and it'll switch off again.

Cheers,
Dave

Probably the only Test Analyst Manager on Tek-Tips...therefore whatever it was that went wrong, I'm to blame...

animadverto vos in Abyssus!

Take a look at Forum1393!

Hi Dave,

I checked the EXT mode its not that causing the problem. I have searched a lot today to try and find a solution however it seems other people are struggling with this also, across other versions of excel also.

The trouble is in its current state excel is unusable.

Kind Regards

Kelley Lewis

What OS are you on ?? XP ??

If so, has the user inadvertantly turned on "sticky keys" ??

happens when you hold down shift for > 7 seconds at a time

We could learn a lot from crayons. Some are sharp, some are pretty and some are dull. Some have weird names and all are different colours but they all live in the same box.

Please read FAQ222-2244 before you ask a question

I connected to the user via vnc and to my amazement when i opened excel (it still had the problem). I clicked my middle scroll button in and it cleared the problem. However!!! this guy doesn't have a mouse with a scroll button!

Job Done!!

Kind Regards
