I have an excel with the following information

Name 1, 2, 3, 4 (in row) and Quarter 1,2,3,4 (in Column).

I want to create a graph that will show

Name 1 with Quarter 1,2,3,4 result on the x axis.
Name 2 with Quarter 1,2,3,4 result on the x axis.
Name 3 with Quarter 1,2,3,4 result on the x axis.
Name 4 with Quarter 1,2,3,4 result on the x axis.

Is this possible?

Hi,

Have you tried the Chart Wizard?

are the names in column a, and quarters 1,2,3,4 in columns b,c,d, & e? do you want bar graph, line, etc?

Highlight the data, press F11.

If you want different options (line graph instead of bar for example), highlight the data then go to Insert > Chart and follow through the wizard.

I used the Wizard but still not giving me what I want. Here is the layout of the spreadsheet.

Q1 Q2 Q3 Q4
Goal Com Goal Com Goal Com Goal Com
John 1.2 3.0 3.2 4.5 2.0 1.5 2.0 1.0
mary 1.0 2.3 3.0 2.0 1.5 1.5 0.0 0.0
Ann 3.0 1.5 1.75 3.0 2.0 3.2 0.0 0.0
Sam 5.0 1.0 2.0 2.0 2.0 2.0 0.0 0.0

I want a bar chart that display like this:
The Name will be at the X axis and the bar will show two quarter combin..

So for example:
On X Axis John will show two bar chart (Q1 and Q2 in one bar, and Q3 &4 in another bar).
Is this possible?

You actually have 8 series.

So for John, which values are in Q1?

There is some inconsistency in your design description:
I want to create a graph that will show
Name 1 with Quarter 1,2,3,4 result on the x axis.
Name 2 with Quarter 1,2,3,4 result on the x axis.
Name 3 with Quarter 1,2,3,4 result on the x axis.
Name 4 with Quarter 1,2,3,4 result on the x axis.
vs.
So for example:
On X Axis John will show two bar chart (Q1 and Q2 in one bar, and Q3 &4 in another bar).

I would try another data structure:
Person Com Goal Qtr
John 1,2 3 Q1
John 3,2 4,5 Q2
John 2 1,5 Q3
John 2 1 Q4
mary 1 2,3 Q1
... etc.
and use pivot chart (Tools>Pivot table wizard, select chart as report type). Drag 'Person' and 'Qtr' onto row area, 'Com' and 'Goal' onto data area. Change chart type if necessary.
With pivot chart you can easily add helper data, interactivly modify chart layout, 'Page' area provides additional dimension for filtering/umming.
Pls note that you will get associated pivot table.

I believe you need to split your data as:[tt]
Q1 Q2 Q3 Q4
Goal Com Goal Com Goal Com Goal Com
John 1.2 3 2 1.5
3.2 4.5 2 1
mary 1 2.3 1.5 1.5
3 2 0 0
Ann 3 1.5 2 3.2
1.75 3 0 0
Sam 5 1 2 2
2 2 0 0
[/tt]

and then plot you chart highlighting everything.
