a little like herkiefan's post yesterday...
Every six months or so for the past 5 years I try to create a simple graph for a simple spreadsheet. I select the x-axis ("column") for a data series that has month-year dates in approved Microsoft format. I think I'm doing it correctly (and have done it many ways) and all comes out right except the date source on the x-axis. No matter what I do, Uncle Bill decides he wants something totally dissimilar from what I want.
I want month-year (JAN-08 format, exact same as in the cells) from Jan-01 to Dec-09. A common result (it's not always the same) is 3 tick marks on the x-axis, 1/1/90, 4/1/90, 7/1/90. (I select 3 months for major ticks, one month for minor ticks.) The source data is also always wrong. No matter what I do making the graph chart or trying to correct it. I'm convinced I have a bug in my Office2000, but thought I'd see if anyone has any ideas.
