How do I count up the "R" that will be put in one row, but in different columns? Columns will consist of number of days in a month. So if the 2nd, 5th, 12th and 22nd days have an "R" in them, what formula would you write to get it to add up to 4?

Thanks, what if I wanted to add another sheet to this formula to keep the number acculumating throughout the year? Sheet title: Jan 05

Add another countif to the 1st one

=COUNTIF1 + COUNTIF2

However - that is very bad design. If data needs to be counted together, it should be STORED together - NOT on seperate sheets

In my spreadsheet each sheet is a month. I'm keeping track of employees rejecting overtime, so I need to keep a running total of rejects for when mandatory overtime is required I can be fair and select the person with the most rejects. Do you have a better way to track this?

Nope - you need a better way to store it

Store ALL data on 1 sheet and have a MONTH / YEAR identifier field.

Then your possibilities become very wide ranging
