Excel File Name gets renamed when I open it.

every time I double-click on an Excel file to open it, it opens and the file name has a 1 added to the end, ie. filename.xls becomes filename1.xls.

If I right click on the file and choose OPEN, the file opens and the name does not change.

Office 97 sr-1 is the version I am using.

Any Ideas?

Your file is likely an XLT and not an XLS file.

Save the XLT as a workbook and NOT as a template, and it should stop occuring.
