What is involved with making a combo box part of a cell?

I wish to limit the type of data entered in a particular column by giving the only responses allowed in a drop down list attached to individual cells in that column.

sounds like a job for data validation. put your valid list of entries in an out of the way range of cells (eg Z1:Z10)go to data menu>validation, select list from the 'allow' box and enter the range of cells (Z1:Z10) in the 'source' box. you can also set input and error messages for non-valid entries if you want. click ok and you're set.

Just as an append to this - if you want your list to be on a seperate sheet, you must NAME the list range and then use
=RANGENAME
in your "source" box Rgds

I have been using validation for yonks but had failed to get it to work on a range name.

I'd been missing out on the =

Its amazing what you can pick up looking other peoples entries

Thanks
