excel. cell range showing up to 14000!

Hi i'm having a weird problem...I have user that all her workbooks have up to 14000 rows but only the first 20 have data...I tried delete the rows but they are still there...any tips/help?

Do you mean that the rows that you deleted STILL have data?

there is no data in those rows(only the first 100 rows have data...i've tried deleting the rows but they still show up...over 14000
 
If only the first 20 have data, then the next 13,980 are empty, so what! You deleted the DATA. You cannot delete ROWS.

well when you have 40 sheets ...and the speadsheet is like 20MB...that's my problem!

the spreadsheet is huge!

Did you highlite the rows and hit the delete key
instead of highliteing then Edit > Delete?

The first simply clears the rows the latter deletes the rows

Yes and no.

The former clears the FORMULAS & DATA in the selected range.

The latter also clears FORMATS and everything else associated the the range object.

Yes Skip you are right, I was "generalizing"...but I quess I still don't know what bartibog's problem is or if there even is a problem???
