Tried to do a search on this but not working at the moment, hence new post.

I have an office 97 machine that opens excel spreadsheets apart from one! When it opens it just shows the grey background like you have not opened up a sheet at all. However if you move the cursor around the value of the cell is displayed. I have also found I can view it if I go to full screen mode, or print preview.

It's the file I hear you cry, but I can open this file ok on other machines, including other office 97 machines. I don't know where to look, any ideas?

The only thing I can think of is to click on Window>Arrange>Tiled.

HTH

Penny :)

I'll double check that Penny but I'm sure I looked at the windows menu. Can't be too sure though can you?!

Thanks

Iain

Yeah, must have checked that Penny no joy!

Anyone else want to have a go?

Do any of the users have a dual monitor, or have been using this file on a laptop...could have something to do with the video settings...

Not sure if this applicable to Excel 97, but Excel 2000 sometimes does that and you have to do the following:

Tools > Options
General
tab
Clear the checkbox for Ignore other applications
OK

No dual monitors used or ever been used so nope to that one. I'll have to check out the Ignore other applications tab.

Will let you know.
