I have a file that was created with formulas in Excel 2000 and whenever I open it in Excel 2003 it opens with errors (formulas won't calculate). However if I open it in Excel 2000 it opens fine after calculations and without any errors.
Does it calculate OK if you hit F9 in 2003? If so then check Tools / Options / calculation in 2003 and check it is set to automatic.

No it does not calculate if I hit F9. Also the Calculation tab is set to automatic (don't know if that makes a difference)
the error that the formula shows me is #NUM!

Please start a new thread for a new question, and you will need to provide a bit more detail as to what you are trying to do.

Sounds like you use a function from an add-in or UDF in personal.xls
In Xl2000, check tools | add-ins, do the same in 2003 and check that the same ones are installed.
If so, check for macros / UDF's (user defined functions) via your personal.xls in 2000 by [Alt] + [F11]
