Hi...this is probably simple but it is driving me nuts.

I accidently clicked on the e-mail button on a very complex spreadsheet.

The dialog box for sending an e-mail pops up below the normal toolbars and on-top of the spreadsheet asking for typical email stuff To, cc and subject as well as icons for attachements, address book, SEND THIS EMAIL.

But I don't want to send an e-mail or desire to set up mail computer to do this directly from EXCEL.

I cannot figure out how to abort this e-mail attempt and get rid of this form. How is it done????

This workbook has about 20 pages and if I have to I will copy each page to a new workbook as my backup is a month out of date but this should not be necessary....how do I get rid of this @#$!!@ dialog toolbar.

Hi Jim,

It just did my head in for about 10 minutes.

Finally I sent my test file to myself...and was rewarded with the "normal" view of my test file. I could not see any way to back out of the operation.

Please take care if you don't have a back up of your file though...

HTH.

Peter.

ridiculous isn't it!!! you should be able to abort this operation

To cancel it in Excel 2003 all you have to do is click on the e-mail button again. It's the same idea as turning bold, italics, etc. on and off.

Cheers.

Thanks cmeagan656...you have saved the rest of my hair.

that was not intuitive as evidenced by the other reply and in frustration I deleted the offending icon from the toolbar and didn't remember what it looked like:)

such things should not happen to you at 1:00am...everything is fine now...Thanks again

You're right, its not intuitive and searching help didn't produce an answer, at least not using the search terms that I was using (I thought they were the right ones).

I only noticed it because when I was testing it I noticed that the button got an outline around it and changed colour slightly so I guessed that it worked like the formatting buttons. I tried it and it worked.

Thanks for the little purple thingy!

Cheers.

It's good to learn something every day!

Thanks cmeagan656.
