How do I retain the zeros when bringing this number to a different cell?

Hi,
Format the cell or column as text (Format/Cells/Number tab/ Category = Text.
You won't be able to use it in a calculation but you will be able to see the leading zeroes.

format as text
or
use =text(a1,"000")
where the data is in cell A1
or
use a format of 000

3rd option will mean that the data is treated as a number. 1 and 2 will mean it is treated as text

Three things are certain. Death, taxes and lost data. DPlank is to blame

Please read FAQ222-2244 before you ask a question

Thanks guys and I'll try both options.
