Hello,

We are having a problem sizing a text box in a report.
The text box is actually a vertical black line, width should be excatly 0.05 cm.

We turned off snap to grid options on the report, right-click on the field and choose Object Size and Position from the shortcut menu. In the width text box of the dialog, we enter 0.05 cm, then click OK.

However, the width stays 0.04 cm. It seems like Crystal will adjust the size up to a certain point and then approximate it to some preset value.

Is there a way to **exactly** set an object's size?

Thanks
Chris

Dear Chris,

First let me preface the following suggestions with a statement: I find crystal to be imperfect at these things but that if you work at it diligently it will eventually let you set what you want.

Do you have freeform placement on? And, have you set the grid size to the tiniest value that the File/Options/Layout Tab/Grid Size value will accept?

Make sure that you don't have a vertical or horizontal guideline that is impeding the setting of the size ... I have seen that occurr too. Also, I have found that if I work at 400% magnification for some things like that I have better luck then if I work at 100% resolution ... I don't know why.

Good luck.
