Everyone Read permission

My boss noticed that everyone has Read access in the mailbox rights in Exchange 2k3. I tried accessing someone elses account and couldn't, but he wants to make sure that we are secure. Does anyone know if this permission is needed for anything?

I belive that the "Read" access is only there to allow folks to see that the mailbox exsists... not sure as I'm a novice. If the "Read" access is anything like AD policy then no one, other than the actual user, can go into that file/folder.
