i have a win2k workstation in in a simgle domain controlled by a an win 2k server. for soem reason i keep getting the following werror in my eveent log and i can't figure out why. esp since everything seems to be working ok (my email, proxy xonnections, etc... anyway the error says:<br><br>"Windows cannot determine the user or computer name. Return value (1722). "<br>in the evetn header of course it gicves all the dat time infor etc...under user it says NT Authority\system ands then gives my computer name.<br><br>what simple bloody thing am i missing????<br><br>thanks <br><br>

You've probably long figured out what was wrong, but the info might be useful to others. My guess is that your preferred DNS server address is unreachable.
To check (and possibly correct) this:
Right-click My Network Places and press Properties.
Right-click Local Area Connection and press Properties.
Select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and press Properties.
In the Preferred DNS server box, type the correct DNS server address.
If the DNS is set to "obtain DNS server automatically", you probably receive the preffered DNS server through DHCP.
To check this, open a command prompt and type ipconfig /all
Look for DNS server. If this is wrong, you may want to talk to a domain administrator to correct this. Or if you are one, correct it yourself by changing the entry in the scope options on your DHCP server.
