Hi, I need some help removing this hang up on my boot of my system. It seems as though my system goes through its POST and then hangs up after the splash screen for approx. 2 to 5 mins. When I check event viewer it gives me four errors at the time of boot up listing a source of aic78xx. I am assuming that my SCSI card is having troubles with windows 2000 pro on boot up. It works finely with my scanner and cdrw, it's just that the hang up time when rebooting is a pain...I'd like to get this one debugged!!!

When I look at event viewer this is what it state in the properties:

Event Type: Error
Event Source: aic78xx
Event Category: None
Event ID: 11
Date: 2/24/2003
Time: 6:09:23 PM
User: N/A
Computer: xxxxxxxxxxx
Description:
The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Scsi\aic78xx1.

0030: 00 00 00 00 06 00 00 00 ........

My PC specs are: P3 700(not celeron), 384 Ram, 64mb vid card, turtle beach sound card, 3com nic, adaptec 2903B pci scsi card, windows 2k pro.

I'd appreciate any help in this that I can get. I've looked in the support forums on Microsoft, but am not sure of what to do.

Thanks in advance!!

Got this info from
. The source could be various device drivers (i.e. aic78xx, adpu160m, sttscsi4, stek9714).

Some contributors considered some of these errors as being caused by faulty SCSI devices attached to the controllers (i.e CD-ROM drives)

When the source is "CdRom" this message usually indicates a problem with the CD (especially custom written ones). Also you can check the cabling on the device named in the message. If the cabling is working satisfactorily and you continue to receive this message, run hardware diagnostics on the device. You might have to contact the vendor of the device for technical support, or you might have to replace the controller. The source of this message can also be various controller installed on the system i.e. aic78xx. In this case the problem can be with the controller itself but most likely with the devices attached to it (like SCSI hardrives or tape drives).
