Event Viewer Mystery Logons

A colleague had just loaded a new machine, Win2K, on our domain. Shortly afterwards, he was looking at the logon audit in the event viewer and noted that I had logged onto this new machine through my pc. I subsequently examined my own events and found occasional logons to my PC from other users/machines (unknown to me) but within our domain. We have a Win2K domain structure, Active directory. Is this happening due to machines perhaps becoming (or trying to become) master browsers? or gremlins?
